For all you building experts..
Glass is getting cut now for my new 50 gallon (ish) rimless frag tank. Question is did I order the right silicone for the job?

The exact type is momentive rtv103 (black)

Slightly different packaging than what I'm used to seeing, but that's the right stuff.

If you do a search, you can find where to decode the manufacturing date stamp to make sure it's not more than a year old.

Ive not seen that one used in aquariums yet. 102, 103, 108 are widely used for tank building.

What I ordered was momentive rtv 108. What I got is Momentive rtv 100 series adhesives. I'm just using it to reseal the inside of a 75 I'm using for a sump. Will this work or do I need to order the 103 or 108?

I'm not worried about it. Several people have said it's the right stuff just in a different package thier used to seeing.. And I found this other post on r2r talking about different adhesives and someone just bought one and snapped a picture.. It was the same. (I quoted the post) the post was from last August so I'm thinking they changed their packaging and I have a tune of the newer packaging.

Sorry, haven't logged in a bit.

Looks like they went to a generic packaging to save cost. One tube for all colors in the series and just print the type and batch number on the tube.

If you can't make out the numbers, it might not due you any good, but you could always try contacting the manufacturer to verify how to decode the batch/lot number.
