HI, just bought a red sea max e-260 and I have a 4-foot maidenhead oak tank with live rock and mostly soft corals where the 4-foot tank is the red sea tank is going there I've got new live Caribbean live sea sand for the tank will it be all right too but the live rock back in after it been in a coral dip the (directions put a solution in saltwater and swish for 5 minutes and rinse in clean salt water.) the water that I'll take out of the 4-foot tank will be going back into the new tank the inverts and the corals and fish, will it be ok to put them in straight after the Swope or do I need to get ATM Colony to go into the new tank as well?. Can someone help?

I’d personally still add bacteria welcome to the site pal :)

if you want to use a 100% safe tank transfer option, I wouldnt do anything you've planned above as it sits.

I would copy what works in this massive tank transfer thread.

you pre rinse all sand, no matter how bad that makes you feel lol, so that it's cloudless.

you take apart the tanks like we do, move over the stuff into the new tank on top of CLOUDLESS rinsed sand, and you never add bottle bac nor dip anything.

experiment with your $$ if you want to, but if you want a perfect roadmap 100% guaranteed to work follow this:

You're dealing with probably over $2K in associated costs for your reef. Its worth 1 hour read to study that thread, learn it, apply it seamlessly for a skip cycle tank transfer.

the high points you need to study are that we don't use bottle bac in this process, that's doubting bacteria in a place we have no doubt they transfer.

you will pre rinse the sand, it's what we did for eight years and 60 pages hundreds of times. to ask "wont that rinse away the bacteria" would indicate not any reading of the works on file :)

we make those patterns on file to save you from having to guess at any of this process.

*even though not all those jobs are tank transfers, studying the thread shows you why that doesnt matter.

see how their stuff was always taken down and kept in buckets? and they reassembled back into the prior tank? well you'd just reassemble into the new tank.

the truth is, any old way you want to move works out fine about 90% of the time.

in the 10% who are not prepping surfaces correctly, we find massive new algae invasions after tank setup, occasional fish loss wipeouts etc. the 10% group has lots of distress.

above, you can see for eight years not one single distress because we prep all surfaces the same, for all jobs.

Rinse new sand until no more cloud.
Drain old water slide tank out, new tank in.
Add rock, sand(in that order), coral and fish.
No bottle bac, not needed if you keep rock wet.
Enjoy.
