Hello all. First time posting tonight and would like some input. I bought a 28g Nano cube QUAD CF off of craigslist. There were a few scratches on the glass when I got it, but not too bad. However today i noticed the whole front of the tank is covered with them...Must have happened while cleaning with a pad while the sand bed was stirred up. I am so upset!!! How do all of you clean your tanks and avoid scratching your tank? Do many of you have scratches and it is just part of the hobby?

Thanks!

If the tank is acrylic you have to have special magnets for use with the acrylic. Rough material scratches it very easily.

I use a magnet to clean most of the time. When I do water changes I use a Mr. Clean pad.

Scratches happen. Just make sure you don't have sand stuck between the magnet and glass.

If you decided to use a Mr. Clean pad make sure it's the plain one not the ones with added scents.

Ya try to stay away from getting close to the sand bed, and getting pieces stuck in the cleaning pad. Alot of people also use the Mag Float.

I tried the magnet, not the MAGFLOAT, and it wouldn't cut through the smallest of algae. That is when I got the pad. Said it was for glass and I had to have gotten sand. It just makes me sick every time i get close to the tank. From the couch it is okay, but I can see algae growing in scratches when I get close. I am new to this hobby and it just makes me want to sell it and start over. But then im sure there will be something else that happens.

It happened to me too, scratched up my tank pretty bad too when I first started out. I went out and bought myself another tank, I still run the scratched up one though.
