I just came back downstairs to turn off all the downstairs lights and checked on the tank and it is very very cloudy and murky.
I have a video of what happened, but all I see is it becoming more and more cloudy over a 5 minute period.
I have 35 RFAs and a Large maxima clam. Could one of these spawned? I added some carbon and my DOS is currentelly doing a 20% WC.
From crystal clear to this in about 10 minutes

I also stirred up my sandbed (I do this every other night), it never gets cloudy)
I also did a small 2 part dose about 10 minutes before the cloudiness started. (15 mls of each in a 230 system, added on opposite sides of the tank a minute apart.
Anyone have any ideas?

If you assume a skimmer never stopped and oxygen levels are stable and nothing seemed to Spike and nothing different was done then id say it would have to be the clam

Clam is my guess. My friends just spawned the other day. ‘‘Tis the season I guess.

P.S. Dump your skimmer cup !:p

I know a guy who ended up getting tons of baby clams, never got a follow up on it though

I lean toward rfas as well. Mine and a couple other members have spawned in the last couple days.

Yeah.
Maybe
@DSC reef will know
I'd have to crack a book but in short it's pretty rare to end up with babies after a clam releases into the tank and in some cases, it can be very bad for a tank. A mature tridacna will release sperm first then later the eggs but a lot happens afterwards for successful fertilization.

With 35 RFAs it could be a big, multiple males spawning event, but I've never seen one cloud up the tank like yours. But that skimmer reaction seems right in line with a spawning event.

So has it cleared up this morning? And if it was RFAs you should start watching for babies in 10 to 14 days (I think???) And it you ID more than one female I know a Reef Squad member that would love to buy one of them! BTW, I don't mean me. My female delivered 20+ new babies about 45 days ago.

It is completely clear this morning.
