Woke up yesterday morning to all but 1 fish dead or dying in my reef tank. It appears my Hygger titanium heater that was a little over a year old failed sometime during the night causing a big drop in temp, we are still having cold nights here. One of the small clownfish succumbed and got sucked into my Nero5 powerhead causing it to seize and shut down so flow was greatly reduced. When I discovered this the next morning, luckily Petsmart was open as most of the LFS's here are running limited hours so I quickly ran out and purchased an Aqueon heater and hooked it up to the Hygger controller, I've had great luck with those anyway and might just run it for awhile. Today only my firefish is still alive. Last year I lost all of my fish due to a brook or velvet outbreak, even with a QT process in place. I might just go fishless for awhile and just focus on coral, luckily all seem fine except the frogspawn. Anybody else hit this point?

Several times... Sorry for the string of luck.. This is a good example of needing redundancies. Maybe having 2 smaller heaters instead of one larger? That way if one dies, the other can at least slow the process. Definitely not trying to beat you up at all, just offering advice from someone who has had ALL the issues at one point or another.

Oh man that doesn’t sound like fun. I guess I should consider myself lucky I don’t have any damage to the house to repair!
