Tank crash and questions post power outage

Recently where I live I was hit with a disaster. We lost power for 9 days. I was able to obtain a generator for a few days then it broke so my tank went 7 days without flow pumps or light. I lost several corals. However on a strange note candy canes and one branching hammer survived along with every soft coral. I am now dealing with a diatom outbreak. Is the tank cycling again? I’m guessing more water changes? Any ideas?

the number one thing you should do to a crashed reef is deep clean every square inch of it, to remove rotting compounds and heavily boosted detritus. to not clean it in the name of stability is the killing risk; to clean it is the best chance you have to rehab it. I have a 36 page sandbed/reef disassembly cleaning thread if you want to see it being done for five years.

even if you bring back the corals, leaving in the dead organisms packed into rocks and sand will fuel massive cyano and hair algae in a couple mos, a rip cleaning is the single best thing you can do to avoid crashes, or recover from them says the 36 pages.
