So i recently had a tank crash due to an overdose in Kalk. Lost all my favorite corals. I did a 5 gallon water change yesterday and another 5 gallon today. I have a 55 Gallon. Would it be a good idea to add some Bio Spira Marine bacteria? What should i do to salvage what i do have left?

My son had that happen also, he lost all his SPS but with continual WCs he saved almost all the LPS and his BTA. Hang in there and just keep doing the WCs until the tank stabilizes and it will. I don't think I'd worry about biospira although I don't think it would hurt anything. I'm sorry you experienced that, its painful I know.

Keep doing larger water changes and I wouldn't add anything. Keep testing your water parameters until levels come down.

just checked my parameters.

Cal- 380
Alk- 7 dkh
Ph- 7.8
Nitrate- 0
Ammonia- 0
Phosphate- 0
Salinity- 1.023
Temp- 81

Everything started going downhill for my corals and fish once i added the sump with PVC Piping. I wonder if it was the pvc cement and primer used to bond the pipes. The water is foggy also

I doubt the PVC pipe cement was the culprit. That stuff sets quick and we used it all the time on jobs at the LFS I worked at. It seems your parameters have all come down so you can gently dose alk and calcium and magnesium and I would keep up a slightly elevated WC schedule from your normal for a week or so. Hopefully the cloudiness clears up soon. I can't remember, do you run carbon? That might help, especially if your corals slimed off some mucous during this ordeal.

Oops, don't dose magnesium unless you need too.

thank you so much. I have a chemi-pure elite in the return chamber of the sump and i created a DIY "InTank" overflow with a large pvc the goes all the way to the bottom of the tank where i put more carbon and pot scrubbers. lol

Did another water change yesterday and checked parameters this morning.

Ph- 8.2
Alk - 9-10 dkh
Cal - 420
Salinity - 1.023
ammonia - 0
Nitrate -0

I added a new skimmer to the sump and the ATO also the prevent kalk overdose again.

Are your corals recovering? I hope you didn't lose too much.

I lost a space invader pectinia, birdsnest, 2 zoas, a torch and a hammer. Everything else looked super stressed but not completely expired.

Is that your heater in the skimmer section? If it is I would make sure your heater is under water or else you're going to be in for more heart break. From the pic it is exposed to a lot air.

the water level is usually all the way to the top of that chamber. I shut off the intake and heater to put the skimmer in
