Hi ive been Cycling my tank since 02 August, i normally use cured liverock but this time went with dryrock as i dont want any pests in the reboot.

Anyway i bought a Dr Tims as im trying to cycle as fast as possible due to my livestock not doing well at all in my holding tanks.

I initially dosed 5ppm cloudy ammonia to my tank.

instantly i saw a sharp drop but now it seems to be stuck at 0.2, please see my image, also seneye is reporting some spikes, i have no idea why its spiking as im not adding any more ammonia or organics?

Water is now clear again, im thinking the seneye is playing up which wouldnt suprise me but i dont have an ammonia kit. Any thoughts on this?

All looks good. Could just be some random metering as the noted spikes are nominal IMHO. See how it goes for the next 72 hours and report back.

Thanks, what test do you recommend which is fairly accurate? (and cheap :)

api ammonia tests are dirt cheap and I guess, accurate enough.

I have tried dr Tim's and it worked ok. I really was impressed by the probidio bacteria though. I cycled a QT in a day. A single day...

it's like $30 for a bunch of vials.

congrats on the reboot! not having a tank with pests in it is always a good feeling.
