Hello all , I’m looking for a bit of advise !

If your already aware remember I used conditioned Tap water ! I now have 12 gallons of distilled on hand for water change / top off !

1. During cycle is it important to be running filter and if so then high , Med or low setting on dial... I am running the Seachem Tidal 55 filtration !

2. I’ve added shrimp . It was thawed under cold water from the freezer when I added it ! How long does it usually take to rot ? Is it rotting ? I’m on day 5 total but day 3 with shrimp in and it’s still there but looks to slowly be diminishing !

3. Diatom , even though I started my tank with conditioned Tap water will and could it still grow or likely not ? I’m on day 5 one rock in there looking like a dusting of sand debris on rock from wavemaker circulation ?!

4. While wavemaker was announced , is it Necessary this early on ? I had my sand bottom looking nice and even and added a Maxi-Jet 900 and well now I have dips and soft spikes formed from it ! It almost feels to powerful ! I have a 36G bow front tank so is the 900 to powerful it pushes 1000gph in circulation mode !! It sure does seem it !

5. I’ve noticed on my rock two little worm looking thingy majiggys ( haha ) seems to have a worm like body and then Fanned out at the heading area ?? Idk what it is I can’t a good pick on it but will post what is seen !

I’ve uploaded 3 pictures !
Debris on the rock ?
The shrimp decay ?
The parasite or creature thingy on the rock , is located middle of pic and has a work like body !

Thanks !

Kinda hard to tell from the pictures about the "worm" things. Here's a great link that will help you as your tank matures. Lots of both good and bad critters and creatures to get familiar with to help your tank be a success: Click on the "hitchhikers" link on the first page and scroll down. From your description there are a couple of possibilities need a closer look: aiptasia = bad, hydroids = bad, feather dusters = good. Hope this helps a bit ;)

I didn’t really see anything in there unless I passed over it , but I looked another source and it almost looks like a feather duster , and claims it’s a good hitchhiker if it’s still alive I’d assume ‍♂️ I’ve seen two of them thus far ! Tank you !
