Tank decisions.....

120 a 24 inch tank gets you more light. Also I struggle to aquascape up to fully utilize a tall tank.

Before you buy a 30" deep tank take a tape measure from your arm pit to your finger tips. If it is under 30" you will not be able to reach the bottom of your tank without a stool. If it is under 38" you will not be able to reach the back bottom of your tank without a stool.

Look at the 120 though. at 24" you can reach the bottom without a stool and if it is 32" you could reach the back bottom without a stool.

Additionally, how high are you going to aqua-scape the tank? You are going to have to pump a lot more light in their to get the PAR values you want.

I'd go with the 120... and I'm 6'4"... But go with whatever makes you happy(ier).

As a rule, just like houses, boats, airplanes and many other things bigger is usually better. However in this case, other than more water, I'm not sure you are gaining anything useful. As mentioned previously, 30 inch tanks make it very hard to reach the bottom and type of lighting becomes much more critical (and probably more expensive if you want to grow corals. If you want bigger then go a 72 inch tank. Much better for Tangs etc.

I would love a 6ft tank but I built a custom stand and the biggest tank I can have on it is a 48x24 so I’m just trying to utilize that!

I'd go with the larger tank if that is what you want. If you don't mind going swimming, then don't worry about the height.

^Sounds like your real problem is not building a bigger stand. ;)

only 9 months ago so I want to get more use out of it! Plus my girlfriend is in love with it and won’t let me get rid of it so there’s that too lol

I have a 30" tall tank. I hate it. You cannot see clearly the bottom to clean the glass or get something out. Next tank is max 24". Or 6 feet tall because i can scuba dive in it lol

If that doesnt convince you consider that it has a higher chance of blowing apart due to water pressure.
