Hey everyone! So, I remember reading on one of the threads discussing schooling fish that someone commented that the tank depth is an important factor in getting fish to properly display their schooling behavior (i.e. if the tank isn't deep enough, the fish probably won't school). If I remember correctly, the number they suggested was that there should be three feet from the back wall/corals to the front glass in order to see proper schooling behavior.
Now, I know that most people don't have tanks that deep, but does anyone have any thoughts on this? Assuming the length and height are adequate, would having a deeper tank encourage better schooling/shoaling displays? If so, how deep should the tank be to get the best results? (Obviously, the deeper/bigger the better, but I'm looking more for a minimum depth here than a maximum depth.)
