Hello recently I bought a tank that was 150 gallons 4ft by 2 1/2 ft by 2 ft wondering if this would be okay for a tank or if I'm better off with a 6ft long one that's skinner

Those are fine dimensions for a reef tank assuming its 2' tall and 2.5' from front to back. If not a 6' 180 is much more desireable.

I have on of the DSA 155 that's 72x24 and 21" tall. It's a great tank dimension. The 3" difference in depth isn't that much but it makes it easier to reach the bottom when you're working in it. Plus, almost equal swimming area for active fish like tangs.

A deeper (front to back) tank allows for more creative aquascaping. You have more room to work in, front to back. My tank is 20" deep. Now I wish it was 30", not that I have room for a 30" deep tank.
