Going to be drilling my tank in 2 days, just want to double check I have everything correct.
Ryobi corded hammer drill (hammer off, grip is useful.)
3 inch diamond holesaw
3 inch rubber gaskets (doubled up to hold more water)
Drilling Template from Modular Marine
Clamps
That should be all correct? I'm going to duct tape the bottom of the hole before I drill and put towels on the bottom of the tank. Tank is a 220 Marineland, not tempered. Also glass is at least 1/2 inch thick. Weight of the drill while drilling only. Anything I'm missing? Thank you.

Then I'll pray for you instead :)
Seriously though....
Just keep the bit wet and most importantly, even the weight of the drill is too much....
Patience, extremely ligh pressure on the blade and also....praying helps

Please make sure you do not have the hammer setting on the drill turned on!!! I have made about 12 holes in tanks with out any problems but I did use a drill press with one finger very lightly on the arm. Seemed like a much better way to go about it.

You went all the way through no chipping or cracking?
