I have the evo 13.5. It has live sand and around 10-12lb or dry rock in it. The tank is about 8 months old. I have a pair of clowns that are breathing heavily. I’ve ordered ruby reef,cp and furan-2. My question is could I just treat tank instead of moving to qt since it’s only a Fowler tank?

What’s your parameters? Do they have velvet or why do they need meds? Breathing heavy could be from heat, lack of oxygen, salinity wrong, ammonia, nitrite, lots of things.

All parameters are in check. Sg-1.024. From ready I was thinking brook or velvet. One stopped eating and swims into the powerhead which I’ve read could be symptoms. They seem to have a haze over the bodies.

Also temp stays around 78 +1/-1 and I have a lot of flow with surface agitation

Any pics? There’s some real pros with fish disease on these forums. I would say don’t treat your display tank but who knows what they will say. I’d try to upload some pictures though so people can ID the disease/parasite and give you a treatment plan.

Thanks! Will do as soon as the lights come on in the morning. I’ve considered going to qt and leave tank fallow for 76 days but I’ve also read that since I don’t have any corals or inverts yet that I could possible just medicate in dt. Any advice would help.

Also another thing that has been curious about is the ammonia. It stays about <0.15 for awhile now. I’ve done multiple water changes and I’ve test my ammonia Salifert kit on ro/di water and comes up 0 so I know it’s not the kit. What could I do to get this down. I’ve slowed down feeding to a minimum for about a month now

The symptoms you are describing sound like velvet for sure, a pic would help though. If it is indeed velvet they need to be treated asap, while you are waiting for your meds to arrive you may be able to help them tremendously with a hydrogen peroxide bath

Best I could do lol they don’t seem to like the camera
