Tank has crashed, help required

Hello everyone,

I’m in need a little help and guidance please.
Just got back from a 2 day trip this morning to find everything in the dead.
A switch has tripped at the mains and cannot be reset.

All the fish, shrimp, snails etc are definitely dead but not sure about the corals, maybe they can be saved it’s hard to tell.

What‘s the best plan of action to save as much of this as I can?
should I just throw all the live rock and corals etc into fresh saltwater?
Is the bacteria on the live rock and the sand still good, can I just start up again with this?
How to troubleshoot the problem, as the switch can’t be rest I’m thinking there must actually be an issue somewhere in the electrics, not electrically savvy, any good pointers on how to ID the failed equipment?
How to avoid this again, if there is something wrong, we obviously want the switch to trip, what kind of backups do you guys run to counter this issue?

Unplug everything from the circuit to start.
Try resetting the circuit breaker again.

If it trips again without anything plugged in, call an electrician.

If it stays on, start plugging in things carefully one by one and see if any one device trips the breaker again.

Likely a faulty piece of AC equipment.

As far as livestock goes, you can remove everything you want to reuse into another container of fresh mixed salt water with a pump and heater on a different circuit while you clean up the display.

What size tank are we talking about and what’s the total wattage on that circuit including tank devices and other stuff on the same circuit?

Either a short or load issue.
