I dont know what is causing my tank to heat up. The return pump doesn't seem to be working and isnt overheating but the tank heat keeps going up! What could be the problem?

No controllers currently on my tank and my house temp is 78. I turned off my skimmer for tonight because it was leaking aswell! The heater is in the sump

The skimmers Venturi needs twisted in more, I can see that from here. 78 is a hot house, I would be dead lol

Are your temp probe and heaters in the sump and you have no circulation?

We probably need some sort of description of your setup.

It's weird, the return seems to be circulating but the water between the baffles were at the same level before I turned the pump off

To the right? Haha, it's cold over here in the north!

Twist it back and forth so it’s more snug on the skimmer pump. The hose should almost be touching the skimmer body.

Like this? The tube is now touching the skimmer body

Even more. So the grey tube(Venturi) is snug with the bigger part(motor block) of the skimmer pump.

This doesn’t explain the heater but it caught my attention when you said your skimmer wasn’t working well lol.

Ah I see what you mean! I shall do that in the morning but for now a filter sock will have to do for tonight!

But what do I do now about the return and the heater?

The return is working right? The water level is just different than usual?
What are you monitoring your temperature with?

Yes! The return is working and the water level is different than usual and I'm just using a glass thermometer and hanna checker salinity tester to check temp

How high is it ? And what is it usually. The temperature.
The water level is different because your skimmer is off.

It's at 80-81 and usually it's at 78. Okay perfect another problem solved :)
