Is there a product yet other than a controller that protects your tank in case your heater sticks? I'm thinking something like a timer that has a pro and monitors the temperature of your tank. And you plug your heater into it. And if your take was to reach a certain temperature the power would shut off.

A temperature controller. Lots of people use a Ranco controller as their primary tempature controller and the one in the heater as a secondary.

Not sure how you would do it with out using some type of controller.

There's also the AutoAqua Smart Temp Control, which I would use more as a backup to a temp controller like a Ranco or Inkbird than as a primary line of defense. You drop the temp probe into your sump or tank, plug the AutoAqua into the wall, and then plug an item into into the AutoAqua's socket (in this case, your heater). If it goes above 84F, it'll cut off whatever's plugged into the socket. Can be used with equipment like lights, too, or anything else that produces lots of heat.
