Sounds like your tank is not stable enough. Salinity of 1.025-1.026 is more preferable. Alkalinity of 7dkh is perfectly fine and most people end up keeping it under 8.0.

I don't thing he ever said how old the tank is. He did state the frags are 3 months old.

OP, I have had mag at 1500+ with no issues. I don't think that would be a problem but that one test at 1040 is probably test error.

1) get your own testers and do your own testing. If one test comes out not what you expect, simply do it over.

2) stop testing salanity daily. If you don't have an ATO, get one. You can also "mark" your sump level and keep it there(pump section). Just to it off daily.

3) bump your salanity to 1.025/1.026 as Troylee said.

Yeah I know it needs light. I only acclimated it one day. Its been in my tanks for 4 days now. 3 days at the top of the rocks with 350 par on it.

This is where the confusion is, I thought he was answering how long he had the Frags and never saw where he said how old the tank was.
