The mq200 will be far more accurate than a lux meter. At most you could add 10% to the apogee reading if running heavy blues. You're running your lights @35%, try cranking them up to get a reading.
i think the smaller sensor size that close to the leds doesn separate the disco adequately and allow for the color blend needed to determine the par.
in my industry that was the same difficulty(and most were trying to temp red blue or green only:rolleyes:). to get a correct color reading of led for us the solution was to add diffusion and step away from the source and allow it to blend better on the disk. un like an arc lamp tungsten and floro units. so the lux does become helpful as it it reading only intensity, the larger the disk or ball the better.
I did crank them up to 85% and got like 150 up top. Cooked a few sps in a couple days.
that was too much too fast.

I meant to crank them up and get a reading to see if your lights or meter are working properly. Try the meter outside in full sun. You should get about 2000.

turning up the led to full and comparing the result to the manufacturer par specs would also " test calibrate" it.

This one should be the industry standard. It doesn't have the g4 though.

I concur. Id assume it's still quite close.
its also pretty well in line with the data from my ai sols fwiw.

Skeptically speaking, if all manufacturers listed it this way many would be out of business.

I did like the linked AA article(feels like Ive read it). Julian and Blundell were def trying to educate and let folks understand lighting by Zone ranges rather than specific number or vague low med high.
also interesting to note the high numbers recommended. Flies in the face of the current science and trends esp in lighting.

Are you using the same equipment on both tanks? Do you have a grounding probe or have you checked for stray voltage?

IF YOU HAD TO TAKE A REEFING EXAM, WOULD YOU PASS?
