hi i have been wanting to buy a bigger tank ever since i started but i am only a teen so my parents dont want it anywhere in the house but my room. The size i want is the Max E-series 260 but we are not sure if it is too heavy to have in my room i was wondering if anyone on here knows any ways to test/ find out or if anyone else has similar sized tanks in upstairs rooms? and if so what tests you had to do to make sure it would work

I’d say most floor construction outside Gillian’s Island should handle that LOL …but there have been a few threads on the whole tank weight & floor load thing. But again my short answer is no worries…

I had a 120 gallon in my 2nd story bedroom growing up, as long as you are perpendicular to the floor joists you should have no problems. Bedroom tanks are awesome BTW!
thank you! yeah i have a small one now its lovely to watch when going to sleep. may i ask did that room have a carpet though? because apparently to work out if it will work a builder will have to lift the carpet up

I keep a 25 gallon AIO in my bedroom. It's small, but I love having it in there..

Unless your house was built in the 1700s (and never remodeled), you shouldn't have any trouble with that size tank in an upstairs bedroom.

yes thats what i have right now
I work nights. My room is blacked out, zero natural light ao I put the fish and coral on my schedule. I use the tank lights as an artificial sun rise. If the blue lights are on, I better get my tail out of bed and get my workout in then get to my slave duties for J&J.

It was carpeted. I just built out a 50g system that’s beside my bed. Being able to look in the side pane from bed is pretty sweet. So far I’ve moved a few zoanthids over and I have three chromis to watch school.

This is my view from my bed

And here’s my 14g AIO that is about to be transferred to my 50, also in my bedroom.

If you can’t tell, I love bedroom tanks!

I put it perpendicular to the floor joists. And thank you.

I have a reefer 170 in my bedroom, a reefer 300 in the dining room, and a 180 gallon in the living room currently. Previously I had two 180 gallon in the living room, 150 gallon in dining room, 125 gallon in one bedroom and the reefer 170 in the other bedroom. Unless your living in a straw hut your floors will support a reefer 250 ;)
If you are on carpet it may make leveling it a challenge as it has adjustable feet that are going to press down into the carpet. I don't like tanks on carpet. If you can't cut the carpet out where the tank will be I would at least lay a sheet of 3/4" plywood as a base. JMO

I love having a tank in the bedroom. This is the first thing I see when I wake up in the morning
