tank in cold room

so the place I want to put my 75 in is 64F with a space heater during 30F weather
what can I do to keep my tank warm my sump isn't big enough to hold large heaters

I was thinking glass lids, inline heater?, having heaters in the display where you can't see them(behind rock, large fast growing coral, macro algae),
in the future maybe a separate tank plumbed in to hold more volume, metal halides?

I used to have my 90 gallon tank in a large open space my office. In the winter, the room got down to the low 60s. My sump heater wasn't able to keep up so I added an additional heater in the overflow box and that took care of it.

I have a bunch of tanks in my basement and this past week we hit 15 below outside and my basement is now in the 50's. I got a alert from my Hydros Control my tanks fell below acceptable levels.

I have had issues in the basement before and I added more heaters in the tank for the winter months. Plus if one heater goes out or the main pump does there is some heat in the tank.

Well this was not enough in some instances so I took foam board insulation and put it on the back and sides of the tanks and I also put it on the sides of the sump.

When spring hits I remove the insulation. I leave it on the back though since no one sees it.

in the overflow box? my tank isn't set up so I don't know how much water will be in there but I assumed it wasn't a enough for a heater

Lots of ways to address ....

Do you have room in the sump for a few smaller heaters? Insulate the tank better. Use something like this.

like what size heaters?
I don't think that would fit on my return line unless I ran it out of the stand and then back in

I have a 75g + 20g + 25g sump in 63 degrees room. 150 watt in the sump, always on. A 200 watt, rainbird controlled, in the display tank that does most control. An extra 100 watt in the sump that turns on if things get too cold.

If it fits, You can use multiple smaller heaters, it would be beneficial and mitigate the risk of an over heat with one large heater also.

the owner of the lfs I go to doesn't recommend that since they will be turning each other on and off when they get to the right temp

edit: I mean more than 1 set at the same temp

Not really sure what you mean, to me if they're both set at the same temp on separate temperature controllers, they should go on and off at the same time

If you set them to the same temp then yes, they might cycle close to each other. Don't know why that's a problem though.

Where mine is it’s kinda cool .

I have 1 heater in the dt
It doesn’t come on all day with 8 t5 bulbs but after lights out the heater maintains temp

lights are on 10-12 hours a day

Lol it's all good, I have multiple heaters and my basement can get down to 60 degrees. Haven't had an issue with multiple smaller heaters otherwise.

I don’t know what your sump looks like .... improvise lol. Can you fit three 100 watt heaters oriented vertically. If those are still too big, maybe four 75 watt.

what is the potential for 4 75w to over heat my tank I already have 1 inkbird controller but I don't want to buy 3 more
I will if Its better though
