came downstairs yrmesterday to find a white translucent film covering many of the glass surfaces circulation pumps and many of the fish aling with a nasty smell

Did a water change if 20 %

Fast forward to today Film recurs

Goni dead, starfish dead , nutibrwnch dead, pigmy Angie dead
Sailfin in distress, along with rat, mini/maxi, Rock anemone Duncan, zoos you get the idea

Ph 7.8

Po4 0.1
Ammonia 0
Nitrate 7
Ca 530
Magnesium 1400

Water change 20% (100 gal capacity w sump) last night and again this afternoon

Out of DI water and ideas

Did a little dosing of bacteria early in the week No vodka.

I was cleaning the circulation pumps and just found a battery a button battery to be more precise attached to the magnet on the pump last clean them about a week ago not sure if it's a factor but not a good sign

Oh man, sorry to hear it. To me it sounds like some sort of bacterial bloom. Is the water cloudy at all? Are you running a skimmer? If you aren't I'd recommend doing so to increase the amount of oxygen in the water, and maybe even running an air pump and air stone.

Yep if it were heavy metal you would have all sorts of die off. Could cause a bacterial bloom. I would run any media that I had on hand and do water changes. I

I agree with most others. It sounds like a bacterial bloom. Your parameters are not that bad, so I'm not sure of the cause. Another possibility is some type of chemical or soap has inadvertently been introduced to the tank. Is that possible?

I thought we did this already with this case. From what I remember, you had a decaying starfish in your tank. Tons of white film everywhere, fish breathing heavy, and several rapid deaths. we got you to turn your powerheads towards the surface, you got some airstones in there, and everything started looking better. @Elementalj and @Brew12 weren't you guys the ones helping this case yesterday or the day before?

Also make sure no scented candles, sprays, or plug ins are close to the tank. Open a window to get more fresh air in and your ph up.
