You just need to vinegar bath ur skimmer. All equip should be vinegar bathed before adding because they usually have oils on them and this is why new skimmers.go nuts and take long time for a so called break in process. It will work soon as u vin bath it and wipe it down.

How do I do a vinegar bath? Just dip the unit in vinegar? Or do I wipe it down with vinegar?

take and empty bucket big enough to fit the skimmer add water and vinegar, i forgot the about needed to be mix but you just run the skimmer in that for....i forgot that too lol but if u look it u should be able to fig. it out, but if i remember i'll post it
