So I checked all my parameters last night and everything was great it was my fifth week of the cycle and everything appeared to be in great levels so I did a water change today should I check my parameters tonight?

what were the parameters from the testing before the water change and what method of cycling did you use?

Ph: 8.3

Nitrite: 0

Nitrate: was lower than 1

Ammonia: 0

Temp: 78

Specific gravity: 1.025

I used all dry rock except 1.5 pounds of live rock and ghost feeded a little and doses ammonia once.

Looks good. Maybe try ghost feeding again and see how long it takes to turn into nitrates

You shold be good, but go very slow with live stock. Once uglies show up, you should be able to move on to the clean up crew.

I also just noticed the tank looks to be using an HOB filter. Be extra sure to go slow with the live stock and watch parameters. Also keep up with maintenance on the HOB filter. Nothing wrong with using an HOB filter, just be aware that they can be nutrient traps if neglected.

I will be adding a sump very soon.

So my parameters after water change are

Nitrite: .05 ppm

Nitrate: 10 ppm

Ammonia: 0

Ph: 8.2

Temp: 78

Specific Gravity: 1.025

How is that looking?

Questions: we may have neat use for this thread in our big cycling thread if indeed you’ve left out bottle bac in the steps

As I read above, no direct bottle bac was added only ghost feed and ammonia is that right

So you have a dry rock setup that processes ammonia after being wet for 30 days, that is in alignment with all google cycling charts.

Was wet pack sand used here, or dry sand at the start

Okay I didn’t know there was a thread for that my bad, and I used some bottle bac and ghost feeded I have 1,5 pounds of live rock from friends tank and 55 pounds of dry rock

It’s great you used those others it’s done cycling for sure due to number of days underwater with those live surfaces

Bacteria has a way of getting in if we don’t add any, old school natural way, just wondering if this was one of those types. Your tank is good to go
