So I have had an issue the last couple of days where one thing affects the next thing. My ATO container went low and the back of IM nuvo wasn't topping off. This left the eater exposed which must have been too close to the pump power cord. I didn't realize this as the pump was acting normal with no issues. Fast forward a couple nights later. I notice my pump was humming and no water was pushing out. I think its clogged and maybe needs to be cleaned out. I noticed the power cord had melted and I could see an exposed wire that had rusted over.

I switch the pump out with an extra pump I had and ordered a new one. I end up going to work for 24 hours and come back the next morning (today) and notice that I had dead snails in the tank. I do have some blue legs and some other snails that are alive. All my zoas are closed up. My clownfish are doing fine and eating like no issue. I've tested the water and noticed there was an ammonia spike to .5. This tank has been running for 6 months with a solid month cycle.

I'm about to head up to my LFS to grab more salt. I've replaced the carbon in my reactor. I plan on swapping out my purigen, chemi pure as well.

Id like to chalk this up to the failed pump leeching and messing up the chemistry. Anything you guys think I should try to help to help remove the ammonia?

IM Nuvo 30L

Ammonia-.5
Nitrite-0
Nitrate-5
Calcium- 420
Alkalinity- 10.5 DKH
Temp 78

All tested 15 mins ago.

how many snails and clean up crew do you have. being six months old, is there enough food for them. seen some cases where people start their tanks throw a huge clean up crew in and they have nothing to eat

Not a big one. As much as I wish that was the problem I don't think that's the issue. To have them all die at once and my zoas be closed up makes me lean towards a chemistry issue.

Took your advice and bought some prime. I ended up doing a 50% water change and changing out my Chemi pure elite, as well as new carbon in my reactor. I have noticed some of the zoas are responding well. They are beginning to open up. You can start to see the others starting to make their way to that as well. Skirts are starting to pop through.

Did a little bit of investigating in to the pump cord and determined that about an inch of copper wire was broken down. Could have been worse. I should have bought a copper testing kit. But right now fingers crossed that the water change is going to help get this tank back on track. Got about 60 or so zoa frags I'm hoping I don't lose.
