my tank keeps overflowing from the top of the display and empty sump out can anyone help I do not have any apuro top off I have already checked the over flow has not lose the siphons and nothing is stuck in the pipes :( idk what’s going on

I just turn of the sump and decided to leave the pumps on for the remanding of the night until I come back from work tommrow at 12 :/ that is my only option beeen here with t all night

Is there a way that you can throttle back the return pump? If you’re using a DC pump, dial down the flow with the controller. If you have an AC pump, use a valve on the return line to dial the flow back.

I know this is slightly off topic, but this is why I will never use anything but a Bean Animal overflow.

T has been rubing for a while with out any issues and I did find a snail in the over flow box ?

Is still there

This looks to me like the Eshopps hang on back (HOB) overflow?

When I used one of these over time a large air bubble would form at the top curve of the tube that connects the box on the inside of the tank to the box on the outside, reducing the flow. I would correct this by restarting the siphon using a piece of airline tubing, being sure to use enough suction to remove the air bubble. The flow would increase when there was only water, no air, visible in the U shaped tube.

agree with all the above.

three sump adjustments.

1) insure no flood power out.

2) insure normal operation return when the power returns.

3) (and the one I forgot) Insure no flood with drain failure. Adjust the water level in the sump so that the sump runs dry before the display floods. then return to normal operation and mark water leve with a line on the sump. From that point on never never add water above that line.

If you have an auto top off in needs to shut off before the display floods usually with a float switch in addition to the sump level switches. If the drain fails the auto top off will kick in pumping more water which will go to the display.

If it has been running fine until now then there is definitely some kind of obstruction in the overflow. If it is a HOB overflow then you want a cheapo dosing pump constantly removing any air that builds up in the overflow tube. When I don't clean my filtration the PVC starts getting clogged in my sump that creates pressure decreasing how much flow is actually going into the sump.

actually I used a power head with the "aerator" thingie. Just plugged the aerator tube into the top of the 'u' to constantly suck out air. Just used an air nibble epoxied into the u.

Are you using the pre filter sponge on the external side of the overflow box? If so, I guarantee that the sponge is clogging up and obstructing the drain plumbing. Back when I ran an HOB overflow box this happened to me too. I ended up ditching the prefilter sponge and putting in a Stockman standpipe.

I will have to inspect really well :(
And yes is an ehops overflow and yess I am using the black sponge

i will have to rinse it more i guess i cant find nothing wrong with it is been on since for almost 12 hours and no spill over u guys think if i ad a second u tub it will help incase in one losing the siphon

What is your pump gallon flow per hour? Appears pump is pushing water faster than sump can fill from overflow. A test would be to install an inline shutoff valve and cut back flow a little bit at a time until you have a good balance (that is- if the pump does not have one)

Did you do the drain failure adjustment I described earlier? Even with the drain failed you should not get display floods.

Try the powerhead with aerator to the top of the u tube also.
Lookup maxijet. the 1200 I setup established syphon in less that 30 seconds with no water in the u tube. And bubbles in the u tubes are immediately sucked out. And besides you probably need a power head anyway. So why not use on that establishes and maintains your syphon

The snail in the overflow box is probably periodically blocking the U tube causing your over flow.. remove it and use some gutter guard to prevent that from happening in the future. Set up properly these are just about bullet prof, you can get a pack of 3 prefilter foam tubes for $10 at doctors Foster and Smith.. I clean / change mine once a week.. if you have air pocket forming in your U tube you don’t have enough flow.
