Hey all,

So, I come home from work tonight to find water around the bottom of my small nano (second tank). It is in the process of cycling. I know I have to empty it and get it sealed up before I can put the water back into it. Here is the dilemma: I have live rock with growth on it in the tank, my sand is live. I could pack it all up and put it in my larger tank, but it has algae diatoms right now. I really do not want the algae on any of the nano tank stuff. Silicone takes 24 hours to cure. Do you think I could put the rock and sand in a bucket with lid covered in the saltwater for that long? I do have a battery operated sand stone I can use. Dilemma two: my house is kept at 68, is this warm enough, it's cold here, or do you think I need to turn it up? If so, what is the lowest temp that would be okay?

Perfect! I was hoping it would be that easy. Glad I asked, I didn't think of putting the heater into the bucket....

The bright side is it’s a nano.
go out and buy a big Tupperware and put everything but the sand in it. Including the circular pump and heater. Put the sand in a smaller container, give it a lil circulation and keep it in the dark.
do you know where the leak is?

Not for sure yet where the leak is, but definitely at a seam in the bottom. The leak is minimal, but I want to fix it before it gets worse. I'll start it tomorrow night. I have to get the proper silicone and a dispenser first. It's too late now.

DAP 100%, no mildew additives, if they have it I will get the aquarium grade, but this is know to work fine.

Bulkhead, if you have one, would be first suspect. If it’s silicone make sure to cut off any old, wipe with alcohol, aptly new silicone. Silicone doesn’t stick well to old silicone.

Wow, thanks for that tip. I did not know that!!

And it definitely takes more than 24 hrs to fully cure.

what kind of tank is it?

It is just an 8 gal GangPike. I read on some reviews that they had leaking. Kind of expected it. But, the price was right for a small tank to place on my kitchen counter.
