Tank location

I'm setting up a tank again (after a 5 year hiatus) and have limited options where to place my tank. Anyone have a tank in a small built in space like this? I'm mainly looking into all-in-1 systems as I wont be able to put a sump underneath. If I do the IM peninsulas, either 14 or 20g tanks, I'll have about 6" of clearance over the tank. Then the peninsulas keep everything on the side for maintenance access.

Any thoughts or issues with setting up in a small alcove?

I had one a few years back but it was freshwater. As long has it’s an all in one, with a little creativity, you’ll be fine. Make sure to keep that overhead clearance for air exchange and cleaning/maintenance and you’re good to go. Only issue I had was that all the cords looked ugly coming out the side and cascading to the floor but you can hide those and you’re good it’s a bit of a pain to keep the outside glass clean but not enough of a reason to skip the tank altogether. You could still include a sump in that space. Depending on what is underneath and above you could use the space any way you wanted really. Drilling some holes behind the tank where no one sees, or taking the bottom out of the cabinet above for extra lighting room.

@Jekyl, I'm planning on drilling one hole behind the tank now to access power. Although it may be nice to setup the power in the underneath cabinet just to keep a cleaner aesthetic...

Went with the Nuvo 20g peninsula. Planning to start setting it up and cycling it next week

Thanks! I do plan starting a build thread if nothing else for all the comments to correct me when I'm doing something wrong. haha. And I definitely have enough pictures on my phone to get it started...
