I'll get a pic Tom.
but the silicone is very hard I couldn't even dig my nail into it and its a hazy yellowish tan color like wood glue sort of.

Is there a reef safe silicone I can buy from Menards, Lowes or home depot?

Lowes carries Loctite silicon. Just bought some this morning and it says "Aquarium Safe" on it.

The key is getting one without the antibacterial/anti-mold stuff in it. Why do you want silicone for acrylic anyways?

Jacko, read the entire thread. He had an acrylic tank, custom made, and the manufacturer used silicon.

Sounds like they used a epoxy product called lords adhesive common in the plastic and manufacturing industry... Does it have any smell to it like a nail salon??? Or oily feeling kind of??? Once you post a picture I could tell ya...;)

Here's some cell pics it looks yellower in person.

no smell. I've had the tank for a couple of months so maybe it had a smell b4.
It's really hard to the touch no oily feel, feels like plastic.

Thats really strange. I have never heard of anything like this. I would be extremely paranoid about using the tank. Just to clarify, are they acrylic parts manufacturers that just never made fishtanks (or anything thats supposed to hold a liquid) before?

Seems like it .... I looked through there portfolio and seen a couple tanks, they said they made some before and could do it.

Are those bubbles in the seams of where the acrylic sides meet or is that in the silicone. If where the acrylic sides meet then they did a real bad job in using Weldon.

I would not use the tank personally. The seams are ugly

Hmmm tank doesn't look half bad it should hold... But your silicone job looks like lords adhesive like I mentioned yesterday... Why in the world did they use that I have no clue.... I don't know if that will be reef safe or not never used it in it a aquarium and don't think anyone has to my knowledge.... I would try and return it if at all possible and have them make you a new one.... Lords is just a 2 part acrylic epoxy sort of like Weldon 40/42.... If it's totally cured which it should be after 48 hours there might not be any issues... Here is a link to what they used...LORD® 406/19 Modified Acrylic Adhesive With Glass Beads 375 mL Cartridge - L O R D Corp. - ADHESIVE.
Fwiw it you get a razor knife or putty knife under it and get it started by tapping it with a hammer it should peel off also... It will leave some small scratches where you started it thou...:(
