TANK MATES

Hey I have 15 gallon tank with a small maroon clown in it I was wondering what would be some unique tank mates for him? I have the hydro slim skim running in my tank and My tank has been up and running for 8 months.

I wouldn't add anything to a tank that small with a maroon in it....they're territorial and aggressive. Just my op.

He/she will not allow any other fish in that size tank. She may also outgrow it. They can get rather large for clownfish.

Would a smaller or larger maroon be able to pair with it?

Maroons are the hardest of all the clowns to pair. She will destroy the new male in seconds. You could try to place the male in a specimen container so she can decide if she accepts him. You could try taking her out and rearranging the rockwork and introducing them together but that will still be a risk. You will need a bigger tank anyway. The best thing to do is to get a bigger tank or get another type of clown.

Yeah the odds are not in your favor trying to pair Maroons. I learned the hard way. Ended up rehoming mine and got a bonded pair of designer occs

Best bet is a bigger tank and turn that one into a species specific nano.
