Thought it would be fun to hear about the mysteries that happen in reef keeping. I know Ive had a few in my 20 plus years. You know strange unexplained things happening. Things that completely baffle us and have no explanation... Im interested in hearing some from others.
My latest one. This tank is newer - only about 3.5 months old and going well. I started out with some clowns as my wife loves them and they were good "test" fish once the cycle was done. Anyway we had a larger black snowflake clown in another tank that we moved into this one. This tank is a Reefer 900XL. It has a single central overflow built into the back. Two return lines and the typical overflow gate. Nothing larger than about 1/4" could get through it. The overflow chamber has a lid and is completely closed off. The lid is always left on.
About 3 weeks ago this clown disappears. I assume it died and hermits and whatever else had a meal. Then a couple days ago I see what looks like a ghost of him swimming in the tank. Look closer and notice that the back chamber is actually tinted glass and that he was in that overflow chamber. No idea how he got into it. It was difficult getting him out but eventually I did. He was healthy looking and a little hungry. lol. Here is a photo - that's him up near that return line.
Ok Your turn.
