tank now stinks

hi all

just done a silly move
iv 2 reactors in my sump one had np pellets and the other bio pearls ... both do the same thing i know
anyway water was getting abit to clean so iv had one off for maybe a month
being lazy as i am i didnt think to remove it from my sump and just left it there ...........water and np pellets still in there .
so what do i do tonight , plug the plug in by mistake ,pumping the stale water into my tank
id punch myself if it didnt hurt so much lol
anyway my tank and HOUSE now stink like bad eggs , abit like the old stink bombs lol
iv just put a canister filter with some carbon pellets in my sump and im gonna do a water change in the morning
must of been about a liters worth that pumped in to the tank
my tank is a red sea 350
have i done something that will mess my tank up ?
any input would be good as im a bit worried at the min

one thing i will add is that most of my corals seem to think its feeding time and have opened right up , even some that i have to work on to feed

I would say you have done the right thing so far. I would keep up with what you're doing. Change the carbon regularly and do a few more water changes.

im gonna change 100 liters in the morning
how many days do you think i should wait to change more and should it be another 100 liters or less ?
its not smelling as much as it did

I wouldn't wait on the WC if you can. Probably 20 30% assuming your Alk is close to your mix level.
If you have an air stone and pump I'd put that in as well.
Are you running GFO?

no im not running GFO but im gonna look into it , going lfs in the morning ...im uk , so will see what they have
iv got my other reactor on and my nitrate and phosphate are unreadable on my salifert test kits

Ok. The carbon was prob the best. Did you have an air pump. If not hit a powerhead at the water surface. You want to make sure it gets a lot of air.
Skip to the bottom on how to deal with it.

iv just pulled my return pump nozzle out of the water so its like a tape running into the tank ,loads of bubbles
two of my powerheads sort of point at the top of the water aswell ,got a nice wave going on lol

Besides carbon and WC I think you should let the sump take the more fresh air possible. When I want to get rid of water smell I also keep the doors open and it works.

Water change done ,100 litres
Everything looks fine in the tank, no smell
Still gonna keep a close eye on it but I think I might of got away with this one
Thanks for all your help guys and if the tank has a crash I'll be on here sobbing lol

If nothing happened your probably good. Sulphur is one of the big fears in the hobby.

You probably loaded thevtank with H2S. Your lucky you didn't get any fish losses. Suggest changing Carbon daily over coming 3-4 days and 2-3 water changes.

Run GFO. It detoxifies hydrogen sulfide.

its a 350 tank but id say about 300 liters of water and iv already changed 100 liters ?

I wouldn't bother doing another big change, since it doesn't drop the sulfide that much.
