Tank overflowed, water trapped under tank

I’m gonna cut right to the chase, my tank overflowed onto my stand due to my ATO malfunctioning (presumably) and now there’s water trapped underneath the tank on my wood stand, my course of action is to attempt to remove as much water/rock as possible to move the tank off the stand in order to clean up the water and place a silicone mat underneath to (hopefully) prevent from this happening again. I’m asking if there is anything else I should do or do differently. Thanks!

So yesterday I lined up paper towels around the rim of the tank and it soaked up a lot of water, I pressed on the top and underneath the stand and it seems like there’s no more water, so I’m gonna call that a win.

that tank needs to be cleaned out anyway, it's storing up a lot of waste in the bed. the specific recommend to keep your stand from rotting is:

1. rip clean the tank, it removes the waste buildup you can see in the sandbed which constitutes tank aging, while not harmful sitting there as-is, you're about to upwell the heck out of the waste moving it about and you risk tank stress from dealing in half drained weight. once your tank is taken apart so you can rip clean it/deep clean it, it'll then be empty anyway during that step of the rip clean, and you can lift up the tank and dry it so your stand does not rot

then you reassemble the totally clean tank on a dry stand.

2. second option: run a fan/towels / see how much you can air dry and wing it changing nothing about the nutrient balance in the tank at all.

if you want to disassembly clean the tank, we have threads for that/routine jobs we do here. you don't have a cycle or a mini cycle/it's just an ordered stepped way you take apart a reef so you can wash out all the waste then put it back clean. you'd intercept at the disassembly step so you can dry up under the tank.
