We have neglected our tank for quite some time and now I would like to clean it up and get it going correct again. What is the best way to clean my rock? Any other suggestions? Our tank is embarrassing at this point.

Does the tank have fish in it, if so, I would not clean the rock as any beneficial bacteria that you have, would be killed.
You could mix some salt water and rinse the rock of any debris but that's as far as I would go.

- Prepare new water for a water change.
- Clear the glass of all algae.
- Give a healthy scrubbing to the rock while in the tank.
- Give a good stir to the water in the tank to get all of the algae suspended in the water column.
- Do a water change.
- Swear an oath of weekly 20% water changes and husbandry.

that thread is solely dedicated to fixing up aged tanks. it's done all at once, in one day's time. each tank was much worse than yours, yours will be easy comparatively. study each example, takes 20 mins to see how to clean your tank + never have it invaded by any organism, once you get it cleaned.
