I have a 15g innovative marine tank. And I was wondering if it’s just me that’s incredibly picky about GHA and dirty-ish sand. I’ll post photos of what im talking about. I wanna know if im alone in this or if many others feel that their tank needs to have little to no algae to be a good-looking tank. And any solutions to rid GHA growing from my sand making it clumpy? I have 2 mega nerith snails that somewhat move the sand bed but I can’t figure how they eat. When on the glass I never see a mouth moving and actively eating like my astrea does.

How old is your tank? Also, do you have any other clean up crew? Beyond the two nerith and shrimp I see :)
If you're super picky, you can vacuum up the detritus during a water change, or check your water flow for dead spots etc.

Are you saying that sand is clean?

Or dirty?

All reef tank sand is a latrine. You can always clean a latrine. But it's still full of $**+

I have used a python in the past. Maybe you could use one to clean your sand

Around 5 months, I have 4 bluebleg hermits, an astrea snail and if you will consider it CUC the sixline wrasse I got for my flatworm problems.

Im saying its clean enough that the sand is white, but the GHA has clumped it up and just under the surface it’s pure algae growths. Photo::

You're going to want a bigger clean up crew for a tank like that. Some Ceriths, maybe some Nassarius.

That stuff on the edge is kind of just a side effect, get some more sand sifters to see if they can get any of that.

But my only question and concern, is it everywhere else under the sand? I know it’s probably just algae growing on glass like how it should in a healthy tank, but im worried it’s not just on the glass. Have you experienced that?

Sorry if I misunderstand, but algae won't grow under sand, it won't grow where there is no light.

The OP states that that is clean

It's not clean, obviously

It's an unflushed toilet

Yes, that is typical for sand beds, totally agree

I won't take your vinyl advice, I will do something else if you were talking to me.
