Ok, finally picking up my Red Sea 250 on Saturday. Wife is 100% on board now and want to place the tank by the back patio door. Would the hurt the tank? I can keep direct away most of the time. Please pics below. Door is to the left of where you see the mess. ‍♂️

Level is my 1st concern....
I can keep direct away most of the time.

direct what? light? that's a lot of water to heat and cool..Not sure I'd worry over drafts or direct sun per se ...sure there are scenarios, but most of my tank woes were from traffic: idiots hitting it or bumbling into it, et

Yes, direct sunlight. I have read a little of both Yes & No
The "exposure" makes a big difference: North & east are preferred over Western & Southern exposures
I had a tank in Phx, AZ right near a western window.....even with some of the trapped radiation the tank seemed to always be near or at room temperature (in Phx, AZ with low humidity AC is fine at 78-82)...
You painting the back?

It’s a Red Sea 250 AIO so the back is already black. The sun would come from the Southwest, direction really makes a difference?

Yeah the suns exposure makes a big difference, esp. when planting outdoors...but the radiation effects of the sun are less amplified because the homes internal room temperature has a effect all day, whereas the sun only hits the tanks for part of the day.
Anyway, yes your instincts about the tank trapping some heat would be right...still I'd try it...
