Hi everyone, I have a water box 20 cube tank and for the past few months every now and again the outtake pump makes a loud noise because the chamber runs out of water, can any body help me to resolve this please

Are you leaving the outtake running when you do a water change? Usually the chamber would run out of water if you are taking water out of the tank.

No I turn everything off when doing water change, and it doesn’t do it when I do a water change it just does it randomly every few weeks

Is there anything causing a blockage to that outtake chamber? There could be points where materials or growth is causing blockage for water to enter that chamber. If the water flowing rate is slower that what the pump is putting out, it will drain that chamber.

Evaporation? What evap top off do you have?

I don’t have an auto top off I put in a certain amount every day, but I’m almost certain it isn’t that, it seems to loose the water very rapidly not like evaporation

What pump is in it? I’m running a sicce 1.0 with a biocube in line uv sterilizer above it.
I have a media caddy with filter floss and chemi blue bag in the overflow section with a bubble magus skimmer in the center section and do not have any issues in my 25 peninsula. No filter sock or the black coarse media that come with it. I go through on average 1- 2 gallons of water a week through my ATO.

It’s either evaporation or a leak, I see no other possibilities.
