So I just installed my new LED lighting on my 90 gal mixed reef about a week ago. My tank has a canopy and my lights are definitely stronger than the old ones. My temps used to be 78 consistenly. Now I’m constanly in 80s, sometimes touching 81.

Please correct me if I’m wrong: if surface agitation helps with ph and evaporation (i think), will enough surface agitation help lower the water temp? I’m already looking into buying a tank fan which will increase the evap rate of the tank, but I just need a quick fix til it gets here.

Thanks in advance!

yeah.. go wallmart and get a fan for 10

Be also ready to have lots of RODI water for reserve.. it will take up gallons of water to do so.

Was going to say the same about reserve water. I ran a fan years ago and it took my evaporation to a whole new level. Did help with heat though and an ATO was cheaper than a chiller.

Thanks for the quick replies!

Do you think 2 of these can do some work? Thinking of mounting it like 1 blowing air in and 1 sucking air out

I’m ready to lose water. Id rather have that problem than lose the whole tank from high temp
