Im in the process of finding a new house before i set up my tank!!
Whats the story with natural light, sunlight promotes algae? 90 degrees to a window is ok,just no direct sunlight?
Any tips what to be careful of

No direct sunlight. Find a spot in your house where maintenance is accessible and easy, the tank will be the vocal point of your house depending if it's a big size so put it in a place you'd enjoy it the most and a place that doesn't have rapid temperature changes. Make sure there are outlets and one more important detail you choose the house for the tank you don't chose the tank for the house

I have 2 tanks set up in a room with large bay windows (basically a glass wall) here in Florida and don't have any problems with algae. They get sun all day and my lights run from 10 am until 10 pm. I do have some tinting on my windows but that is to help with the AC bill, but i'm sure it also helps with the tank. I was helping a buddy with his tank that was convinced that his algae problem was due to sunlight. Once I finally got him to check his phosphates, he found out that his phosphates were off the chart. Now that he is getting that under control, his algae is going away. Algae can't grow without food (nitrates/phosphates). If you don't keep up with the nutrients, then you will have algae problems and the direct sunlight will only make it worse.

mine is next to my sliding glass door, never been an algae issue nor heat issue.... I am sure heater may run a little more on cold winter days but never been an algae problem... Like they said above.... keep nutrients in check

I am finding my tank in the office is in sun for 5 hours a day it is growing coral like crazy and looks awesome

My upstairs 180 sits next to a window unfortunately. No big deal, the only issues are the overflow closest to the window gets some cyano growth.

If you can prevent it, you should though.
