Tank Set up - Sump/Skimmer/Tank

Hello, I'm new to the hobby.
I recently purchased a 2nd hand 65 gallon acrylic tank and a 5 gallon sump. Will the 5 gallon sump going to be enough?
Also, do you think it will work side by side like in the picture using a hang on overflow?

Also what kind of skimmer or how big of a skimmer should I use?

There are so many skimmers out there. And lots of threads addressing which people like. Basically you should just pick one and check out the reviews. I am partial to the ATB. They are expensive but well made. I have never had any issues with it in over 7 years.
