Tank setup help

i got a reefer 170 my plan was get live rock and half water from a established system.

Will this reduce the cycle. It’s kinda of like moving into a new tank.

Yes, it will help. The degree of help will depend on how much rock you are getting from the established tank. If 100% of the rock comes from an established tank, you may not actually experience a cycle. One key element is to ensure that the rock is transported in a way to minimize die off of bacteria and other life on the rock.

To be safe, you should MEASURE...MEASURE...MEASURE Ammonia, Nitrites and Nitrates.
