Tank size for a tuxedo urchin?

I’m thinking of getting one but only have a 32g biocube. I’m not sure how much space he needs for food. I do have a cleanup crew, though I only got the 10 g all algae crew from reef cleaners (so undersized). The only corals not secured are the ones on the sandbed - zoas, open brain, and for some weird reason, my Duncan prefers the sandbed.

Will he have enough food? Will he take my sandbed corals for a ride?

You have a good size of a tank for one. You can always supplement feed the urchin with nori. They are known for taking coral and keeping them. So any frag that’s not glued down will be taken

What size frags? The zoas would likely get picked up. The open brain is maybe 3” across when fully open and the Duncan has 5 heads and maybe 2.5” across. I tried attaching him to a rock higher up and he was unhappy (which is surprising since my lights are pretty weak).

I think I’m going to try it, if my LFS has one.

Love my tuxedo. They are absolute work horses. I don't have any issues with him packing corals around but he often has a trio of ceriths on his back

I had one years ago (like 12-14 yrs ago) but don’t remember a lot. I have to relearn everything lol.

Keep in mind they will also munch in coraline in case that would bother you. I have tons so I don't really notice it but occasionally mine will go up and clear a section on my overflow nox

Bummer, my LFS didn’t have any. It’ll have to wait - maybe in a couple of weeks I can work from home to mail order.
