Hi all, I'm not really "new" anymore but I'm always learning, so I consider myself a newbie and therefore will post here :)

I currently have a 120 gallon mixed reef tank. I've got a clown triggerfish in there, and have had him for about a year. I'm moving in about a month, so it's a good time to move the clown trigger to his own tank, and get a smaller tank for corals and other fish. So my question is, what size tank should I get if I want it to be suitable for the clown trigger when its an adult? 120 has been fine for the time I've had him, but I had always planned on upgrading, and now that I have the opportunity I want to get something I don't need to upgrade again in another year.

He would be the only fish in the tank, with some live rock. I've heard of people successfully keeping adult clown triggers (alone) in as small as 90 gallons, but some people say upwards of 200 or even 300 gallons. So what size do I need for him alone?

Thanks!

I'm voting 180+ too. If for no other reason than the extra two feet of length.

125 for a small one and at least a 180 bigger triggers

I'd say minimum would be a 240g. You want the length of 8', that fish is going to be almost 2' in length at full size..
