Tank size, water weight, and floor strength

Hello!

I found an auction ending in 2 hours for a local pickup of a 65 gallon tank, 120x45x45cm for a decent price
I was thinking about getting a 60+ gallon tank so I can keep some baby tangs

One thing I was worried about was the weight on the floor.
I live on the second floor in Japan
120x45cm is 0.54 square meters with at least 275kg of weight
According the Japanese building code, its required for residential buildings to hold 180kg per 1 square meter
Online and on Japanese forums I've found mixed ideas of if its ok to put more than that
Some people reenforced their floors but thats not possible for me as I live in an apartment

I was wondering what some of your guy's experiences are with larger tanks!

Unless your buildings are a lot weaker than the ones here in the states you’ll be fine.
a 65g tank is small and will only weigh around 520lbs which is like 2-3 grown adults

Japanese are known to do things right and to go above and beyond expectations, so I would reckon your floor is as solid as the cars you guys make!

Go ahead Mate, although - if you're the slightest in doubt yourself i'd pull out! You need to be able to sleep every night without worry..

Well I doubt that buildings in Japan are weaker if not stronger because of all those earthquakes so I think that might be fine

Will more tanks in the same room affect that? I'm also working on a 180 liter 60x45x45 tank too in the other corner

But I'd rather sleep (its going to be in my bedroom) with a floor intact

It'll probably be fine
But then it makes me wonder where the 180kg per sq meter is coming from, as I'm sure they didn't roll a dice for that number
Although it does say for WOODEN structures, not concrete (which I think my house is made out of)

And no I can't see the bottom from the basement

I do have an upright piano in the living room right next to the floor and that weighs 300-500lbs

Sorry if I'm overreacting but I'd rather know that it's ok than find out that I don't have a floor

I'm pretty excited
I've always had many nano tanks but nothing bigger than 60 liters and I currently don't have a tank

the 65 gallon is ending in 2 hours, current bid is 6250 JPY or 36.5 GBP (wow JPY is so weak) and I put 15k or 88 GBP
in rough condition but nothing a good scrubbing cant fix
its acrylic so I'm worried about scratches though
I'll definitely redo the silicon or whatever is holding the tank together

Hopefully I'll win it

Oh also the other 60x60x40 (42 gallons) tank is arriving tomorrow also second hand bought for 28 GBP which I think is a STEAL

I'm thinking of plumbing those 2 together with 1 sump and use the 42 gallon as a frag t and 65 as a dt
Also building another system with two 80l plastic concrete mixing tubs as a small qt

I'll be making my own cabinets and use second hand AI Primes or hydras and some T5s as lighting for dt
I already bought a 150w metal halide/t5 hybrid fixture for 10k yen 60GBP which I think I'll be using for the frag tank
Thinking of potentially buying 2 more 250w metal halide fixtures for 5k each from LFS which is switching to LED but I'm thinking against it because heat

hope to keep total cost under 200k ( 1200 GBP) which I think is possible ( I did some spreadsheets)

Yea should be fine now that I think of it,
Have an upright piano which is like 200-300kg and no problem at all
its concrete building not wood too

prob over thinking this
yes i overthink everything

but still makes me wonder why they say 180kg per sq m
maybe very old like 90% of politicans and laws in japan
