Tank size???

I got a tank for free from someone awhile back. Been running for a little over a year. Anyways, they said it was a 55 gal tank. I gound the equation on a website to find out the actual volume of the tank. It was LxWxH/231. I measured the tank did the math and came up with almost 75. Is that the correct equation and is my tank actually 75 gal and not 55?

Measurements- 48x18x20

That's the formula and if those are the deminsions then it's a 75.

That is very exciting lol now I have a 75 gal tank. The bigger the better! Will a 20l do for a diy sump? Or will I have to go bigger?

I would go with a 20, or better a 29 gallon, if you do a 29, don't use the extra height for water, but for splash/creep protection

I actually have a 29 as well. What do you mean for splash and creep protection?

The 29 is the same footprint but taller and will keep water from splashing out. Creep is the salt left behind when water splashes and then evaporates.
