Hi Reefers,
My new tank build has stalled after 3+ months and I would appreciate some help on what I should do next. The following info and photo's may help.
tank- 120 gal
100 lbs. live reef sand
80 lbs. of Pukani and 30 lbs. of Figi
Added Dr. Tim's one & only and then used ammonium chloride to cycle tank
Sump 46 gal.- built in media reactor and refugium with manifolds, and ATO. filter socks x 3
Protein Skimmer RO elite 200 sss
Running ROX 0.8 in media reactor
Cheato in refugium growing well with with reefbrite light on opposite photoperiod
added marine pure block to skimmer chamber
Water parameters:
Salinity 33.9 ppt
ORP 360-430
PH 7.9-8.1
Temp. 77.5-78.5
ALK 8.3 dkh
Nitrates 0 ppm
Phosphates 0.01-0.02 ppm
Calcium 421 ppm
Magnesium 1305 ppm
I was thinking I might be stripping to much nutrients out of the system by the use of water changes, the skimmer, socks, and carbon in the media reactor and maybe the refugium full of cheato also.
I added three fish on 3/9 white belly yellow wrasse, and two PJ cardinals, and then on 4/6 I added two tangs a twin spot brisletooth, and a yellow Hawaiian.

Sorry, my wife is convinced I cannot read, what is the problem exactly?

You have a beautiful tank, it is time to start putting some stuff in it! Euphylia is a good place to start, it will give you a nice flowy look right away (even with one head). Throw some mushrooms around the rocks on the bottom for a splash of colour. If you find a tyree or japanese toadstool, it will give you an nice green as well as a place to host your designer clowns, snowflakes and frostbites are my favorites, but DaVincis and black ice are nice too...

Well, most people don't see that as a problem. But I do see what you are getting at...

Keep doing what you are doing, and enjoy the tank. If your ammonia and nitrites are 0, and your fish are eating and happy, then you are in a good place. Continue adding livestock as you see fit.

If and when you start seeing 'problem algae' then deal with it when it comes up. Once you start over feeding, then you'll see the nutrients start to rise and this is when 'problems' start - or not. I've had tanks take 9 months before the dinos start showing up. You are exporting nutrients via your chaeto and right now that is holding the balance just fine. Things will change a lot over the next year or two while the ecosystem balances out and you have added a bunch of livestock.
