Hello Everyone,

I am beginning a 48 x 24 x 13 shallow tank build and wondering what size stand would pair well. My concern is how tall to make the stand since shallow tanks look odd if it's resting on a huge stand. The stand it came with is 40.5 inches high and it really takes away from the tank itself since the stand seems obnoxiously large.

Therefore, how tall of a stand would you recommend for my size tank?

Thanks.

Personally, I think the tall stand is necessary on shallow tanks otherwise you'll constantly be bending over to look at the tank. The 40.5 stand that you have would seem to be perfect to me. Sure, it looks awkward but this is what to expect with a shallow tank.

If you want a shorter stand no matter what this is what I typically suggest. Make your stand 32-36" if it is going to be placed in a room where you'll be viewing it from a sitting position most of the time (living, dining, family rooms). If the tank is going in a room where you will be standing/walking most of the time keep the 40.5" stand (kitchen, hall, entry rooms).

+1 keeping it higher has many benefits that outway the odd look of it. Having the extra space under the hood rocks for everything needed underneath.
I have the same demensions except 17 high on mine. Stand is about the same also and I like it.

I completely agree. It will be going in the living room where people will be sitting. I think I'm going to go with 36" :D

I would typically agree but the tank doesn't have a hood; it's rimless. I think I'm going to go with 36".
