tank stand question

My current stand is a 180 gallon with a factory built stand. I am considering a new tank with the same foot print other then a tank that is 6 in deeper front to back. I was wondering if I wouldnt possibly be able to extend the stand and strengthen the support to accommodate the larger tank. It would save a lot of $ if I could do so. what do you think?

As long you are crafty and know how to use wood. Then it shouldn't be a problem.

Is it possible? Sure. Is it feasible? That depends heavily upon what you have now for a stand and how it's built.
