I am going to be adding live rock to a 38-gallon tank. Question is how does this extra weight of rock affect the stand with the additional weight? The stand is rated for up to 39 gallons.

The rock displaces water. Water is ~8lbs per gallon.

Practically speaking this is a very minor issue and the stand should be able to handle more than the weight of the tank with just water. Adding rock should therefore be of little consequence.

The only issue with rock could be point pressures of the rock on the bottom of the tank directly. This would mainly be an issue on glass tanks.

FWIW.

Thank you so much. This helps a lot.
