I have a 125 gallon aquarium and heres what i am thinking for stocking. Let me know if these fish are compatible, or if there are too many. also, the tank is now going to be soft corals and lps.

1 Kole yellow eye tang
1 yellow tang
1 powder blue tang
2 ocellaris clownfish
1 carpenters flasher wrasse
1 multicolor Lubbocks fairy wrasse
6 blue green chromis
2 cleaner shrimp

Looks like a good stocking list but make sure to add the yellow tang last

I gave decided to not get the chromis and will get something else. Any suggestions?

I would actually recommend powder blue tang last. They are among the most aggressive tangs.

Consider other fairy and flasher wrasse species, flame or longnose hawk, a group of zebra or scissortail dartfish.

Good idea to skip the chromis. Most folks are disappointed as the group becomes much smaller.

Another to look into would be gramma or chalk bass. I have even seen groups of these kept successfully if added together when small.

The powder blue tang actually makes me nervous. 125 is borderline too small, and the three tangs might not work out. Adding smallish juveniles would be the best bet. I would also recommend prophylactic treatment for parasites for all fishes in the system, since tangs (especially powder blues) are so prone to skin parasites.

If I didn’t get the powder blue, Should I get another Tang because I have read keeping two tangs is a bad idea. If I was to get another smaller tang, what do you recommend that could get along with my other two tangs? Or could I get a different fish like a fox face or some sort of butterfly fish?

A smaller Acanthurus tang that might be possible would be a lavender or convict. I don't have experience with the latter, but I've seen several folks recommend them. It's not that you can't do a powder blue. Just keep an I on it for aggression, and qt everything...as you should anyway...

Foxfaces (regular, one spot, or magnificent) are great fish. Most of the other rabbits get pretty darn big.

Butterflies are hard to recommend in most cases. They don't ship well, and almost all of them will give you some sort of trouble in a reef. The three reef-safe ones that I'm aware of are: the two pyramids and one specific species of Heniochus (bannerfish). Some people have good success with copperbands, but they can sure eat certain kinds of corals.

I would actually recommend swapping the Yellow Tang for a One Spot or Regular Foxface, you get an algae eating fish that is Yellow and highly visible without the big butthead attitude. I sure don't regret ditching my Yellow Tang for my One Spot Foxface. They also change color based on mood and go night camo color scheme at night to blend in the rocks. Much better tank mate IMHO.

I no I’m a little late to the party, but there is a genus of large angels, Genicanthus, that are reef safe. U could also do cardinals. They tend to b out all day. Jawfish are also really cool, lotta character. And u could get a coris wrasse or a leopard. Both r really cool fish.
